Based on our experience during several programs on globalization topics a database of knowledge was created concerning the development needs in Central America, respectively Costa Rica.

2008 INEX has adopeted sustainable development as its hot topic. We are striving to promote the vision of cooperating on sustainability, cooperating across cultural borders and geographical distance in terms of mutual knowledge transfer and actual help.

How can this marriage work?

INEX will adopt the hot topic of sustainable development to its series of Summer University programs in Costa Rica, and offer an innovative combination of program modules to create an optimal learning experience. Here are the details...

Educational Component.

Academic input.
Through its elaborate ties inside the academic world, INEX has the chance to offer two intensive continuative courses on sustainable development based on the participants' preliminary knowledge in the field. According to INEX standards the courses are approved for international credit transfer to the students' home institutions, based on the classes' 60 contact hours and 200 workload hours. The courses are held by renowned capacities in the field and carried out through the number one bilingual university in Costa Rica, ULACIT.

Consultancy.
Being high potential future economic leaders the participants do not only gain knowlegde themselves but also share their knowledge with others. In their role as consulting teams for a local township they support the community leaders with their first hand analytical and practical skills, designing an advisory report and walking the first step towards a more sustainable future.

Appreciation.
By taking a deep dive into the lands' social and environmental structure tomorrow's leaders take home one more key knowledge. And this is the type of knowlegde that you won't be able to find in a book, that isn't possibly comprehensible if not experienced, and still irreplacable for creating a self sustaining momentum of future sustainable development: the appreciation for our planet's and its peoples' beauty.

Social learning.
'To fully immerse our students into the local environment and culture INEX includes intensive language training in small groups taught by experienced teachers, cultural and social activities, as well as a range of trips and tours within Costa Rica documenting the uniqueness of the surroundings.

Working in the field.

Addressing the problem at its grass-root, INEX focuses its development work on communities that are on the verge of the sustainability movement. Nevertheless, their performance has the greatest impact on the actual outcome of the hype, because their future growth is about to start and the engines are already running. Why not give them the tools to sustainable development from the very beginning instead of trying to implement change when the development hast exploded to the point of no return.

The seed of sustainability.
By stimulating the awareness of those, who contribute the main export products of the country of Costa Rica, we have the unique chance to impart knowledge before it is too late, before harmful industrial tradition is implemented, before irreversible side bets have been established and before an environmentally and socially destructive system can be adopted.

Before.
INEX works on providing the tools for a self sustaining momentum of sustainable development. Gathering Advisors from differnt fields, working with corporate partners, governments, academic insitutions and high potentials, INEX creates a thinktank that operates in the field, by analysing the current needs and taking action for providing possible solutions for the social, ecnomic and environmental challenges the communities are facing.
